Tis the Season for Self-Care

It’s December. Advent Season.  A time to worship and reflect. But for many of us, it also means  shopping, wrapping, cleaning, baking, parties, and otherwise full schedules that can leave us feeling stressed out and even depleted at times. I’m there with you!

I’m sure you’ve noticed whenever you fly on commercial aircraft that the flight attendant always instructs us, in the event of an emergency, to put on our own oxygen masks before helping others. Doing otherwise could have dire consequences.

It’s the same way here on the ground.  Focusing on the needs of everyone else and putting ourselves dead last could have dire consequences.  After all, stress is a major contributor to many (some say all) health issues—physical, emotional, and mental.

So this season, let’s focus a bit on self-care. Remember, you can’t pour from an empty cup.
