8 Must-Have Essential Oils for the Working Woman

I’ve got mad respect for women who work hard! I’m talking about the 9 to 5’er trying to navigate corporate America and build a career, the woman who works full-time maintaining her household, and the entrepreneur trying to make her mark in this great big world. It can be tough sometimes to take care of all that life demands and even more challenging when you want to feel good and look good while doing it.

I believe essential oils enhance the quality of our lives. They work with our bodies to provide a natural approach to wellness. These 5 must-have essential oils have my blessing for the best essential oils for the working woman.

Lemon: Lemon essential oil is amazing as a natural pick-me up. It stimulates the senses while energizing your brain. It can help you be more alert and improve your concentration. Rub the lemon essential oil on your hands and inhale, you will see feel an immediate improvement in mental clarity. It can be combined with water to spritz on your hair as a brightener and the oil can be applied to your nails to soften cuticles and restore them. Lemon works as a wonderful freshener for the air.

Clary Sage: Clary Sage essential oil is known for its relaxing properties and is used for soothing away the stress of the day. It’s highly regarded for women specifically and is calming and soothing to the skin. Its scent is spicy and should be used sparingly on the wrists and neck to promote balance. When placed on the brow it can enhance clarity and purpose.

Orange: Orange essential oil works to combat fatigue. It’s ideal for those who tend to overwork themselves and strive for perfection. If you are easily aggravated the scent will help calm your spirit. Orange essential oil is a sweet aroma that energizes and enhances peace, creativity and harmony. Orange oil is a welcome addition in the work place and usually works well for those that are sensitive to smell.

Bergamot: Like orange, bergamot is a citrus oil that is uplifting to the spirit and refreshing to the mind. Bergamot essential oil provides a little pick-me-up throughout the day when you’re feeling bogged down with work.  This is one essential oil that can be used in a diffuser for the aromatherapy benefits or diluted with a carrier oil and applied topically. Bergamot is a popular scent used in many perfumes and fragrances, so you know it’s a great one to keep on hand.

Peppermint: When I was working in an office I kept a communal bottle on my desk, and my coworkers would come grab little Peppermint “hits” throughout the day. When the 4:00 in the afternoon slump hits and everyone is ready for a nap, this is better than caffeine. Ok, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but it’s REALLY good stuff for boosting energy, attention, focus and performance.  Put a few drops in your hand, rub together and inhale deeply for a quick peppermint pick-me-up.  It’s also great for a quick cool-down when it’s hot outside! Never let ’em see you sweat, right?

Frankincense: Frankincense essential oil induces feelings of peace and satisfaction. Frankincense is a great choice for relieving tension or exertion. Frankincense essential oil can lighten the mood and also promote relaxation after a long day.

Geranium: Geranium essential oils are a sweet smelling oil that is ideal for balance. It fights fatigue, works to lift your mood and promotes emotional wellness. It’s a great addition to your daily regimen; it acts as a natural deodorant or perfume and can minimize the look of wrinkles. Geranium oil enhances the skin but make sure to dilute with carrier oil before application. Use geranium to promote peace and relieve tension.

Stress AwayThe name says it all, but this is one essential oil that should be sitting on the desk of everyone who owns a computer. Keep a rollerball under the lid so you can quickly roll it on the inside of your wrists or back of your neck like a perfume.  With hints of lime and vanilla, it is also a great oil to add to a diffuser necklace.

I encourage every working woman to have essential oils by her side. You may find that it brings about a renewed sense of purpose and energy and can help you combat the ups and downs that come with a hard day’s work. Keep up the good work ladies!

Thank you for this info. I am new to essential oils and this particular info will be great for my daughter who is an OBGYN and works 24-hour shifts as a hospitalist.
