Essential oils are ideal for calming most kinds of insect bites because of their outstanding oil-soluble properties.

They have been shown to reduce swelling, itching and redness.

My top four oils are Purification, Lavender, Peppermint and PanAway because they all WORK and come in one useful kit – the Premium Starter Kit.

Before we proceed please be advised that IF you or the PERSON bitten are affected by severe allergic reactions to bee stings, seek immediate medical attention.

You got bitten, whats next?

Before you reach for the oil(s), first you’ll want to take care to remove the stinger, if it’s stuck in there. You can flick or scrape it out with something else that’s semi-sturdy (like a credit card), but be careful not to squeeze the venom sack if you see one.

Once the stinger is out, apply 1-2 drop(s) of the chosen oil(s) every 15 minutes for an hour until redness abates.

Of course the best thing is to avoid getting bitten. That’s where essential oils come in play again. ☺ Yes, Purification is what we use before going outside.

Some other essential oils that may also work for you are:

Lemongrass, Citronella ,Thyme, Peppermint, Cedarwood, Geranium and Palo Santo.

You may have other oils that have helped you once you are bitten. If you would like to share please let us know.

Believe me, life on the farm has a lot of surprises and bugs. Being prepared is key in parenting!
