Holiday Cooking Recipes

We always cook the traditional meal at Thanksgiving and Christmas. It just wouldn’t seem like either if we didn’t have Turkey, Ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, dressing, green beans and pumpkin pie. And for my hubby…cranberries! But it does get a little boring, so why not change it up a little and add some VITALITY OILS to  your tried and true recipes! All of the VITALITY OILS by Young Living are GRAS or Generally Recognized AS Safe for consumption by the FDA…the Food and Drug Administration. Vitality Oils come in four categories: Herb, Spice, Citrus and Supplement. Find prices and order here.

Remember…a little bit goes a long way! So add one drop at a time until it suits your taste!

To Glaze or Not to Glaze

I usually always have a holiday ham on the table too. Here is a simple, yet yummy ham glaze. If  some of your guests prefer the saltiness alone, just mix this up and set on the table and let your guests choose to glaze or not to glaze.

Sides Anyone?

No holiday meal is complete until all the sides are on  your plate; mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, sweet potatoes, dressing…oh my gosh, I’m getting so hungry!

A perfect compliment to your mashed potatoes is Rosemary. This spice adds such a nice flavor…but remember, I warned you…start with ONE drop!! Sometimes all it takes is dipping a toothpick in the bottle and then stirring that little bit in.

Holiday Cooking - Potatoes

I simply cannot eat mashed potatoes without gravy! Can you? But trust me those potatoes will be gone, even if you serve them with melted butter. But for all you gravy lovers…try this delicious Ultimate Gravy! The YL Vitality Sage and Thyme really bring out the flavor of  your turkey drippings. And the Vitality Black Pepper adds just the right heat. I’m going to need my own side of gravy…I use it on all my food.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE gravy and I love it on my dressing too. This cornbread stuffing is a Southern favorite even in the North!

Eat Your Vegetables!

I suppose we have to eat the veggies too. Try this slimmed-down recipe for your green beans. It will be a family favorite for years to come! The Vitality Lemon EO really brightens up this dish. I would forgo the ground black pepper and bring on the Vitality Black Pepper!

My husband would not think he had eaten the holiday meal if it didn’t also include sweet potatoes. He likes his sweet potatoes SWEET.  I’m not really a fan, but I do eat a little bit each year. I personally just love to peel and cube russet potatoes and sweet potatoes, add a bit of olive oil, one drop of Vitality Rosemary essential oil, two drops of Vitality Black Pepper and about a teaspoon of really good pink Himalayan salt and pop this dish covered in the microwave for about 10 minutes and voila! Done…but not sweet! But I will do anything to make my hubby holiday happy! This recipe calls for just the right amount of Vitality Lemon and Cinnamon. The topping would be so delicious on any pumpkin dessert or on ice-cream!

Holiday Cooking - Sweet Potato Casserole

My husband likes to get a little bit of everything on his fork along with cranberry sauce all in one bite. He says that it  is the ultimate bite. I don’t eat the cranberries, do you? This recipe might have me trying it though…I will try it if you will.

Don’t You Think We Should Eat Dessert First?

We ALWAYS have pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving. I start to crave it about one to two weeks before. Pumpkin is good for you and has all of those yummy vitamins that help us stay healthy as we enter the winter months…so eat to your heart’s content. This recipe calls for the four traditional spices you would normally put in your pumpkin pie, but use the Vitality essential oils; Cinnamon, Clove, Ginger and Nutmeg. There will not be a crumb left. That’s okay…you probably say it every year after the big meal…”I’m so full, I’m never going to eat again!” And then somehow evening comes and you are searching for all the leftovers…so go ahead make two of these pies!

This is such a wonderful time of the year. We have so much to be thankful for, especially for those that are gathered around our Thanksgiving and Christmas tables. My faith and my family are the two most important things to me.

I am also so thankful that I found Young Living! These little brown bottles are filled with so much goodness. I ordered my Premium Starter Kit three years ago. I am constantly telling people that it was the BEST purchase I made in 2014.
