Have you noticed a slight chill in the evening air? Depending on what state you live in, maybe it is just a little not so hot 😊
So where does the word Autumn come from? The word autumn comes from the ancient Etruscan root autu- and has within it connotations of the passing of the year. It was borrowed by the neighbouring Romans, and became the Latin word autumnus.
As Autumn brings forth its cooler temperatures and richly colored falling leaves, it’s a perfect time to enjoy diffusing and blending with warming essential oils like ginger, cardamom, cinnamon and clove.
Autumn is a season of transition and change. Take advantage of this time to use the aromas and benefits of essential oils for autumn to find balance in your life.
Here are a few ways to use essential oils this season.
- Diffuse spice and citrus essential oils…
The aromas of fall are embodied in spice and citrus essential oils. Spice aromas are evocative of fall baking, while citrus oils evoke the fall harvest. When blended, they can inspire comfort, abundance, safety, security and satisfaction. They create a general sense of balance and calm that is perfectly in tune with the halcyon days of autumn. Consider cinnamon bark, comforting clove and fulfilling fennel for the spice oils, all of which blend beautifully with orange and tangerine citrus oils.
- Make a massage or bath oil with warming essential oils…
When you add warming oils to a skin care oil based bath or massage oil application, it’s like slipping into a down comforter or flannel pajamas on those crisp and cool fall evenings. Nutmeg and black pepper are comforting spice oils that work in these applications.
- Make a body oil, lotion or perfume with citrusy essential oils…
Scenting your body and personal space with the luscious, fulfilling scent of fruity citrus oils is a great way to soak in the bountiful atmosphere of fall. Dilute a blend of orange and grapefruit oil in a light textured skin care oil such as grapeseed or coconut oil dab onto pulse points (Pulse Points are those specific areas or points where) one can feel the heart beats. As always, I would love to hear from you.
