Why is exercise important?

Many personal trainers will tell you that the average person, even one that works full-time, still has periods of time during the day in which they can exercise. For example, a working mom may be swamped with work during the day and be busy with family activities into the evening, but she may also spend an hour or two watching Netflix. There certainly is nothing wrong with having calming, relaxation time, but consider that this time can be spent exercising as well.
Better Than An Hour At The Gym
An ideal method of exercise for busy individuals are HIIT workouts. They are just as effective as other types of exercise routines, but are achieved in a much shorter amount of time. In fact, you may find that you get your heart rate up and start sweating far more with a HIIT workout than an hour long session in the gym.
HIIT workouts (High Intensity Interval Training) are designs to be done in a short amount of time but at maximum effort, resulting in an effective method of exercise. They come in a variety of types but typically focus more on cardio than strength training, though it is totally possible to find plans that combine both.
The average HIIT workout only takes about 20 minutes. Keep in mind that HIIT isn’t designed to be done every single day, but rather just a few times a week. The reason for this is if you are doing it right and really putting in maximum effort, your muscles and body will need more time to recover before going at it again. This means you only need to do this a couple times a week, with off days perhaps focusing on a jog or walk.
There are literally hundreds of HIIT routines available online. Here is an example of an excellent 20 minute beginner’s routine:
Push Ups – Squats – Butt Kicks – Tricep Dips – Side Lunges
You will perform each exercise for 45 seconds with a 15 second rest if needed. Aim to do at least 3 rounds.
As you become more comfortable you can easily develop your own routines with your favorite exercises. All in all, HIIT workouts are an excellent way for anyone to increase their fitness level and reap the benefits of a healthier body, heart, and mind.
