I love Sunday mornings. They make me think of sleeping in and brunch and the aroma of coffee and an overall sense of laziness. Now, I don’t sleep in since having kids, but I still remember the feeling.
May I say that this past Sunday, I made the best French toast of my lifetime? It was amazing, mouthwatering and just plain delicious!
You should definitely try this one out for yourself.
First, I gathered all the ingredients and took a picture because I was hoping this recipe would be worth blogging about.
Do you see my secret ingredient? Why yes, that is a little bottle of nutmeg essential oil, yum! 🙂
The other ingredient that seriously made this dish was the sliced French brioche bread that I picked up from Trader Joe’s. It was the perfect thickness for French toast.
I always crack my eggs into a separate bowl. This way if I get any egg shell pieces they are easy to spot and remove.
Go ahead and add all your ingredients directly into a shallow dish like a pie plate. I put in 1 drop of nutmeg EO, but you could definitely add a 2nd drop. By the way, did you know that nutmeg is great for energy? Why that’s perfect for a little morning pick me up!
Don’t skimp on the butter as it adds such a lovely taste and texture to the finished dish. I also add half a tablespoon of olive oil because I don’t have nonstick pans and find that I always need a little oil. While the butter is melting go ahead and whisk together all of your ingredients.
Oh I wish you could smell through a blog because this is divine!
The wait is Almost over! Thank goodness because my mouth is watering!!!
Baby approved! Let’s eat. 🙂
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons sugar
1 drop nutmeg essential oil (EO)
1/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon olive oil, if you are using a pan that is not nonstick
8 slices French brioche bread
In a small bowl, crack eggs.
In a shallow dish, like a pie plate, combine cinnamon, sugar, nutmeg EO, milk and vanilla. Add the eggs and whisk all ingredients together.
In a medium sized skillet, melt half of butter over medium heat. Soak 4 slices of French brioche bread into the egg mixture for about 10 seconds per side. Fry slices until golden brown, then flip to cook the other side. Add the other half of butter and repeat until all the remaining slices are cooked.
Serve with Maple Syrup and Enjoy!
