What is residual income and why you want it

Faye HallUncategorized8 Comments

Who could use an extra $100 a month? What about $500. What would you do with it? Pay off bills? Take a trip? Stash some away for retirement? Travel?

Many of you know I am in the corporate (Financial Industry) world today. Its tough. Just last week I had a stream of incoming texts and calls from friends who had been laid off. Some after 20 years of tenure. It hurts me, really hurts me. These are good people. People trying to survive in this game called life. Trying to pay bills, support their families and in statstoday’s world, tenure doesn’t mean much. Business is business and many corporations don’t care anymore about its workforce. It breaks my heart.

Residual Income

residual  income is generally a quantity left over at the end of a process. In businessResidual (entertainment industry), in business, one of an ongoing stream of payments for the completion of past achievements. Think about royalties that celebrities get for past movies or books. If we really understand what this is, we would throw ourselves through a brick wall to get it. Its the type where you can take a week of vacation and still get paid.

What is MLM?

Not only are “home businesses” or “MLM’s” very interesting, they are successful. We have all had an Avon Lady, been to a Pampered Chef Party, and have Tupperware in our pantries. Many of the longest standing organizations in this country have this business model. MLM is a marketing strategy in which the sales force is compensated not only for sales they personally generate, but also for the sales of others they enroll, creating a down-line of distributors and a hierarchy of multiple levels of compensation. Most commonly, the salespeople are expected to sell products directly to consumers by means of relationship referrals and word of mouth marketing. Sounds legit right – so why the bad press? There are new ones coming up all the time.

The Upside

  1. You learn A LOT! About yourself, about others, about what you want in life, about what you don’t.
  2. You get the chance to win free stuff. Trips, product, more merchandise
  3. You are your own boss. There’s a different motivation when you work for yourself serving others vs working for someone.
  4. Their is no income ceiling. Yep. It doesn’t matter who you are, or what you have, your income earning potential is yours.
  5. The motivation and inspiration is real.
  6. You get to help others see their dream come true
  7. You get out of debt!

Why not? You would support your friends and family in their business, why not an MLM?

I don’t pretend that this is easy by any means, but I have a dream. I have hope that soon I won’t be a slave to the corporate world, that I can have freedom. My goals aren’t complicated. I just want to be the best person I can be and help others to freedom. You will need to learn some skills, but in the time you learn those skills, you will be earning. Can you say that about a college degree?

For real, if you aren’t building, start now. You won’t regret it. You will meet some awesome people along the way, pay off some debt and build a foundation that will help you live the life of your dreams. A year will pass no matter what you do. What you accomplished in that year is up to you.

I learned a lot just in this post. Thank you! I have a better understanding of MLM now. I agree with you about college. You more than likely won’t learn much like you would working for yourself!

I have done MLM’s for many years. It’s true you learn a lot about yourself. Many of my friends are very successful in their venture; my sister won a trip to Las Vegas and my niece just took a 3 day Mexican vacation with her hubby and 2 kids all paid with her earnings!
