What is a diffuser?

One of the most common ways to use essential oils is aromatically using an ultrasonic diffuser. It is an electronic diffuser which disperses Essential Oils into the air. They work by breaking the Essential Oil particles down into micro-molecules & then diffusing them into the air as negative ions.

How does a diffuser work?

The minute molecules of essential oils are readily absorbed into the bloodstream when they are inhaled as the lungs work to oxygenate the blood.

  • Supporting to the respiratory system, including the sinuses.young-living-dewdrop-diffuser
  • Have a supportive affect on moods, the hormonal system, tension, etc.
  • Increase indoor air quality or help protect against environmental threats.
  • And the positive compounds and their properties, once within our blood stream, can encourage our immune system response or promote well-being in a multitude of ways.

Just a note here: The toxins from anything else you inhale too can find their way into the blood stream too. that might include fumes from candles, cleaners, plug ins and air fresheners.

Can I use a Candle warmer?

Many times I am asked if candle warmers work the same way. Unfortunately they don’t. They may make your house smell nice, but the heat will change the chemical composition of the essential oil, changing its properties so you will miss out on the wellness benefits that essential oils can provide.

The olfactory system includes all the cells relating to the sense of smell. When we inhale through the nose, airborne molecules interact with the olfactory organs and, almost immediately, the brain. The limbic system is directly connected to those parts of the brain that control heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, memory, stress levels, and hormone balance (Higley & Higley, 1998). This relationship helps explain why smells often trigger emotions.

Using a diffuser

Fill the diffuser reservoir with water and add 3-6 drops of essential oil. Most diffusers come today with a shut off. It either works on a timer, or when the reservoir is empty. I set mine up and let is run until it turns itself off. Whether you diffuse for an hour or 3 times at 10 minutes a day, you will reap the benefits. Diffusing Essential oil is the most common way to get essential oils around you for everyone’s benefit. The kids, the pets, the guests and you.
